A characterful Edwardian leather trunk by Finnigan’s Ltd., trunk manufacturer, displaying its original travel labels including one for Raffles Hotel Singapore, Scott’s Hotel Melbourne and with ship’s label for the Strathaird with two owners’ names, the earliest for a P&O passenger Brodie and a later Thomas Cooke passenger label dated 1953. With smart red and yellow ‘Gucci style’ painted owners’ stripes. Perfect as a sofa, bedside or lamp table
Note: The Strathaird – Early in 1930 the Peninsula and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O) ordered the building of two ‘White Sisters’ – The Strathnaver and The Strathaird. The Strathaird left Tilbury on her maiden voyage on the 12th Febuary 1932 calling at Port Said, Aden, Bombay, Columbo, Fremantle, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
