A crewel embroidered panel, English, circa 1730, once part of a decorative ‘pocket’ or skirt, delicately worked in jewel like polychrome wools using chain stitch and French knots on a textured woven ground with a naturalistic scrolling design of pretty English garden flowers including dianthus and sunflower with tiny hand stitched ‘button holes’ probably for a drawstring, now mounted, the bespoke frame hand painted in Hague Blue with non reflective conservation glass.
