Description
A fine late 19th Century Abochani ‘Flower Field’ wedding shawl, Sind – finely embroidered & designed as a stylised flower field, the flower heads worked in pink and pale green floss silks against a woven cotton ground, the long edges also embroidered, with borders at each end of similar smaller scale flowers, an old inked signature or number relating to the embroiderer at one end, the whole made of four joined loom widths. In excellent condition with minimal fading, a few scattered marks but not obvious and due to the design not immediately visible, two or three small holes to one border. A rare and lovely find. Unusual in this condition and very useable either lined as a curtain or bed cover, displayed on the wall or used to upholster a large ottoman. We can recommend a studio or arrange directly for this textile to be lined and fitted with battens at the top end and bottom for use as a hanging – please enquire.
